Planning a visit to the tropical paradise of Maui? Here are some must-do activities for your Maui itinerary!

From the Martian landscape at the top of the Haleakala volcano to breathtaking beaches and lush rainforest, Maui offers lots of landscapes to explore.

Drive the famous Road to Hana for spectacular views on the lush windward side of Maui. Chase waterfalls, enjoy banana bread, and admire the rainbow eucalyptus!

Experience sunrise above the clouds from the summit of the Haleakala crater. Join a tour, or make parking reservations in advance. And be sure to bundle up!

If you are an experienced hiker, consider hiking the Sliding Sands Trail into the floor of the crater. You can also go down a short way if you don't want to hike the whole trail.

For a completely different hiking experience, try the moderate Pipiwai Trail, which includes a boardwalk stretch through towering bamboo.

Snorkeling enthusiasts will want to book a tour to the Molokini Crater, where the visibiliy is out of this world. The crescent-shaped crater is also a great diving area.

Winter visitors to Maui should plan to go whale watching! Thousands of humpback whales congregate in the warm leeward waters of Maui to mate and give birth.

Go snorkeling in Turtle Town (a stretch of coast in southwest Maui) for the chance to swim with Hawaiian green sea turtles. The fish here are colorful too.

Maui has so many beautiful beaches that you'll be spoiled for choice on where to soak in the sun, and the views. Big Beach is a favorite spot!

While Kauai is popular for helicopter tours, Maui from the air is magical as well, especially if you choose a tour that also flies over the cliffs of Molokai!
