Waimea Valley is a must-visit attraction on the north shore of Oahu in Hawaii. It's fun, and it's family-friendly.

The botanical garden here is the centerpiece of Waimea Valley. It boasts over 5,000 types of plants from all over the world.

The lush  gardens include mature trees, colorful flowering plants, and a large pond with giant water lilies. A paved path leads you through the garden.

Waimea Falls is a popular attraction in Waimea Valley: it's one of the few waterfalls in Oahu where you can legally swim in the plunge pool when conditions are right.

The 45-foot waterfall flows into a large natural pool with a stunning setting in the midst of all the rocks and greenery. There is usually a lifeguard here.

To get to Waimea Falls, you walk the pleasant Waimea Falls Trail, an easy walk that includes plants and historical sites.

Waimea Valley is also the home of Toa Luau, considered one of the best luaus in Oahu. Enjoy a Hawaiian feast and traditional entertainment!

There's also a well-stocked gift shop you can browse for souvenirs to bring back home, as well as places to sit and eat after you explore.
