Planning a trip to Maui, Hawaii?  You can enjoy beach time in South Maui year round, and there are many beautiful beaches from which to choose!

Many South Maui beaches not only offer spectacular scenery, they also offer a variety of activities from swimming and snorkeling to sunbathing and strolling.

Here's a tip: plan your South Maui ocean activities for the morning, when it is more reliably calm. The wind generally tends to kick up in the afternoons, making it gusty and cool. But do wear a wrap and return in the evening for the spectacular sunsets!

Big Beach features a gigantic swathe of golden sand. The shorebreak is dangerous, so visit to admire the stunning setting, sunbathe, stroll the sand, and enjoy tacos from the food truck!

Wailea Beach fronts swanky resorts like the Wailea Grand. The sandy beach offers swimming, snorkeling, boogie boarding, and a walking path fringed with lush landscaping.

Maluaka Beach, a Maui Turtle Town beach, is a must-visit for snorkeling. You can visit on your own or on a boat tour. And of course, keep your eyes peeled for Hawaiian green sea turtles!

Keawakapu Beach offers swimming, snorkeling, strolling, and sunbathing. It's a great all-around beach to visit at the southern end of Kihei. The sunsets are amazing, too!
