The Mahaulepu Heritage Trail is one of the most popular hikes in Kauai, Hawaii.

A coastal trail on the south shore of Kauai, the Mahaulepu Heritage Trail connects Shipwreck Beach with Punahoa Point.

On this easy to moderate trail, you will enjoy stunning views of the Pacific Ocean, sandy beaches, rugged cliffs, and even golf courses. It's a very scenic route!

There's parking at both ends of the trail, and you can hike it point to point, round trip, or even just do a part of the route and back.

If you hike the Mahaulepu Trail when the reserve is open, allow some time to explore the Makauwahi Cave Reserve en route. You'll see age-old fossils in the cave here!

Sunrise is a particularly scenic time to do the Mahaulepu Heritage Hike, but late afternoon or early evening are also good.

This family friendly hike is a great activity to do on Kauai's south shore with kids! Look for birds and wildlife as you walk.
